Whether you’re writing the next best American novel in a quaint coffee shop or catching up with some friends while you sip elaborate lattes, there is no reason that your dog can’t be by your side. At least, not if you’re in Sonoma County. We have plenty of coffee shops where your best friend is welcome. Here are five of our favorite dog-friendly coffee shops in Sonoma County.

Howards Station Cafe

1. For the Country Dog: Howard Station Café

Address: 3611 Bohemian Hwy, Occidental, CA

Website: https://www.howardstationcafe.com/

If you like your pot of joe served with the warm hospitality you’d find in a small town, the Howard Station Café is the spot for you. Prepare for home-style food and strong coffee. You can bring your dog onto their porch beneath an awning, where you’re protected from rain. Although your pooch can’t step into the quaint building, its lovely architecture is a treat enough from the outside. When you’re looking for this gem, note that the signs say, “Howard’s Café,” although that isn’t the shop’s official name.

Sunflower Caffe

2. For the Dog with a Green Thumb: Sunflower Caffé

Address: 421 1st St W, Sonoma, CA

Webiste: https://www.sonomasunflower.com/

Forget sipping coffee on rainy days in dark cafes. Would you and your dog like to enjoy a coffee shop experience that is a little greener and brighter? Then you should head to the garden space at the Sunflower Caffé. A lush array of greenery surrounds the bright yellow seating, and filtered sunlight comes down through the semi-transparent roof. It’s the perfect spot for you and your dog to enjoy a bright morning.

Hole in the Wall

3. For the Local-Loving Pup: Hole in the Wall

Address: 972 Gravenstein Hwy S, Sebastopol, CA

Website: https://www.holeinthewallrestaurantsebastopol.com/

The outdoor patio at this coffee shop is completely dog-friendly. The staff have even been known to break out water bowls for their four-legged patrons. While you may visit for the dog-friendly atmosphere, we have a feeling you’ll return for the food. Everything at Hole in the Wall is local and delicious. Think local jam and butter instead of the standard little packages you find at every breakfast place. The menu items are fantastic too, especially the FunGuy’s Benedict, Duck Burger and Challah French Toast.

Avid Coffee

4. For the Coffee-Purist Pooch: Avid Coffee

Address: 2365 Midway Dr, Santa Rosa, CA

Website: https://www.avidcoffee.com/

This spot has a small outdoor patio, and if you and your dog can snag a spot, it’s worth it. The coffee here is award-winning, carefully brewed, and might just take you to coffee Nirvana. The 1080 Dark is a favorite that lovers of dark coffee will return to. If you prefer a blond brew, this place isn’t for you. But coffee connoisseurs will love to sample the various classic and dark blends, with their dog at their side, of course.

Dutch Bros Coffee

5. For the Versatile Pup: Dutch Bros Coffee

Address: 1300 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, CA

Website: dutchbros.com

For humans, the Dutch Bros Coffee offers java, smoothies, teas, espresso, and other interesting drinks. For dogs, they also offer specialty pupuccinos. There is no indoor seating at Dutch Bros Coffee, but it is a great spot to drop by on your walks.

We hope to catch you and your four-legged friend at one of these dog-friendly coffee shops soon.
